Teaching the people who teach
As a Master Trainer with the Lifesaving Society Canada, Nathalie’s experience includes instructor and trainer development: strengthening the knowledge, judgment and confidence that others carry into their work.
Founder & CEO · M.A.
More than thirty years.
One enduring purpose.
From pool and beach lifeguarding to international leadership, Nathalie has devoted her professional life to a deeply human question: how do we keep people from drowning?
Practitioner. Educator. Expert witness. Founder.
Experience in service of people.

From the water’s edge
Nathalie’s work began where the responsibility is immediate: as a pool and beach lifeguard, then an instructor and trainer. Prevention, readiness and sound judgment were never abstract ideas. They were part of keeping people safe.
As her responsibilities grew, so did the reach of her work. Developing instructors and trainers became a way to share capability: preparing the people who would teach, supervise and protect others.
That progression led to a career spanning aquatic safety, education, communications, philanthropy, research engagement and professional leadership. The scale changed. The purpose remained the same.
The depth of practice
As a Master Trainer with the Lifesaving Society Canada, Nathalie’s experience includes instructor and trainer development: strengthening the knowledge, judgment and confidence that others carry into their work.
Her aquatic-facility and pool-safety auditing has covered residential, public and collegiate settings, with attention to operations, supervision, maintenance, access and emergency readiness.
As an expert witness in complex drowning and aquatic-safety matters, she has examined incidents, safeguards and failures. That work brings a demanding perspective to what prevention must achieve.

A global perspective
Work across North and South America, the Caribbean and Africa has reinforced a central conviction: communities face different risks and need approaches shaped around their own realities.
Nathalie begins with the people already doing the work, the local evidence, the resources available and the gaps that remain. International experience informs the questions; community knowledge helps shape the answers.
Understand what exists.
Strengthen local people.
Leave capability behind.
Why she founded SGP
Across lifeguarding, training, auditing, advocacy and expert-witness work, Nathalie encountered a recurring challenge: communities may know what would improve water safety, yet struggle to put sustainable solutions into practice.
Swim Global Project grew from the determination to help close that gap. Its mission connects knowledge with coordinated action, clear responsibilities, practical delivery and the ability to sustain progress locally.
WaterSafe Communities™ brings that thinking together through seven connected pillars: assessment, education, swim competency, safe environments, policy and leadership, implementation excellence and sustainability.
The woman behind the work
What distinguishes Nathalie is not only the breadth of her experience. It is what she does with it: teach the instructor, develop the trainer, support the practitioner and help local leaders carry the work forward.
She brings conviction without making herself the centre of the solution. Her attention stays with the people affected, the work already under way and what still needs to change.
For Nathalie, the purpose is practical and personal: stronger instructors, better-informed families, more capable communities and fewer people reaching the moment when a rescue is needed.
A lifetime spent learning how to protect people.
A mission devoted to helping communities do the same.
